Air Traffic Controller and Pilot Tier 2 Assessments

Dr. King provides psychological evaluations to evaluate pilots and air traffic controllers for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These are known as Tier 2 psychological assessments, which are performed by Licensed Clinical Psychologist consultants with expertise in personality assessment who have been trained by the FAA Clinical Psychologists. The Tier 2 assessments include a review of records (including the Tier 1 MMPI-2 score report and any other pertinent records, such as military records, police and court records, medical records, and so forth), a thorough psychosocial/clinical interview, and mental status examination. The Tier 2 assessment also involves psychological testing that includes a re-administration of the MMPI-2 and administration of a Personality Assessment Inventory and/or Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV, as well as any other tests that the Tier 2 psychologist considers to be clinically indicated.

Evaluations take four to six hours and must be done in person. The assessment results are sent directly to the FAA.
