ADHD & Learning Disability Testing
Psychological evaluations are a way of objectively assessing an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, behavior, and personality functioning. No single test can diagnose ADHD or a Learning Disability. Both of these disorders have many co-occurring symptoms and can present similarly to other mental health conditions. Given the complexity of these diagnoses, it is critical to have a comprehensive evaluation.
At Metropolitan Rehabilitation Services our evaluation consists of:
Interview
Psychometric Testing
Report and Discussions of Results
1. Interview
During the consultation, we meticulously conduct a comprehensive diagnostic interview involving both the parent and, when applicable, the child. This initial in-person meeting with the parent is conducted without the child's presence.
The interview encompasses the following aspects:
Developmental milestones
Medical history, including current medications
Academic journey
Identification of subject strengths and weaknesses
Evaluation of prior academic and psychological assessments
2. Psychometric Testing
The subsequent step involves psychometric testing. The subject is required to be present in our offices for an in-person session that typically spans 4 to 6 hours. If necessary, the testing process can be divided into multiple sessions.
Our psychometric testing assesses a range of attributes, including:
Cognitive and aptitude-related intelligence
Academic achievements in reading, writing, and math
Attention and executive functioning
Memory capabilities
Perceptual motor skills
Language proficiency
Behavioral tendencies, mood, personality, and psycho-social functioning
3. Reporting and Discussion of Results
Upon the completion of the testing phase and evaluation process, we provide an inclusive review of our findings in the form of a detailed report.
This comprehensive report encompasses an individual's history, a concise summary of test outcomes, pertinent behavioral observations, and tailored recommendations that can be easily understood by parents, teachers, and professionals alike.
We are committed to remaining accessible for any inquiries from both parents and healthcare providers following the finalization of the report and the completion of the feedback session.
MRS is in network with several insurance carriers. Please contact our office to determine if we are in-network with your specific policy. Clients are responsible for payment of deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance. Some plans require a pre-authorization to be completed prior to the testing to determine if the assessment is considered medically necessary. If required, your provider will complete this before scheduling the assessment.
If testing is not covered by your specific plan, or you do not have insurance, you will be responsible for the full cost of the assessment. MRS recommends that all clients call their insurance provider to understand their individual plan benefits, prior to scheduling an assessment.
All testing services are also available via self-pay for anyone who does not wish to submit a claim to their insurance provider.
